After reading through the "AAAAAAAAAAARGH" topic I've decided that this was the best way to figure out a price for my site.
www.adbuysolutions.com needs a very bad overhaul. I'm absolutely horrid when it comes to design and as you can tell it's very amateurish.
Now, what would a design overhaul run? I would give the designer his creative freedom to create a good business/advertising feel to the site.
You would have:
1. css
2. the header at the top of each page(which is called on all pages so only one design does it all.)
3. main page on index
4. members area (has maybe 2-4 pages I would want done.
What would that run on here? I want to know a ball park figure before I post it.
I was thinking anywhere from 100-500. But I'm not a designer and I don't know how hard or easy that is.
Thoughts?
Hey,
Looking at your project it seems that there would be alot of things involved in overhauling it. Even though it would only require a header change to modify most of the pages, the "little" things on the main page like the buttons, sidebar headers, the "join today" image and other various graphics would take up a little more time.
I also noticed some inconsistancies with your footers, as well as issues with your form (it doesn't look right in firefox) that would need to be fixed. I also like to take time to make sure that websites work across all major web browsers.
So knowing all this from your main site, and guessing just as much work (if not more) would be involved in working on the members area, my estimate would be in the $400 - $600 range.
One word of advice though: Be sure that you choose a designer who knows what they are doing. Ask questions about things like browser compatibility, and what they think needs to be done to the site before choosing them. There are alot of fakes around here, and you don't deserve to get ripped off. Asking questions should help you weed out the bad ones.

Excellent, thanks for the reply.
You brought up excellent points there. I use firefox and I know most people use that and opera. IE and netscape are dying out, but it would be nice for compatibility across the browsers.
I'm sure the person would have to know a bit about php in order to move things around as well. Your estimate is about where I figured it to be. I was about to post it on SL to see what kind of response I would get on it because I didn't know if anyone would ever check on here...heh.
If you are interested please keep replying back to me here so we can set something up on SL later. Let me know what you would want done with it if you want to. If not than I can post it and see what I get.
Thanks for the reply though.

No matter how much I love FireFox, IE is not dying out. Stats on my server show IE around 85%...
