ALL OF THE ABOVE IS JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG, THE LIST COULD BE ENDLESS.
BUT, if we don't see even a glimpse of that great India in the India that we see today, it clearly means that we are not working up to our potential; and that if we do, we could once again be an evershining and inspiring country setting a bright path for rest of the world to follow.
I hope you enjoyed it and work towards the welfare of INDIA.

Say proudly, I AM AN INDIAN.

Do not remember A LOT of facts, but can remember very few of them:

The co-founder of Apple is Steven Voznyak.
One of the Canada's Governors General was Ukrainian (forgot his name).
French Queen Anna is native Ukrainian.
Spanish King is of Ukrainian blood.
The world's first Constitution was written (unfortunately, not adopted) in Ukraine.
The Lithuanian culture is mostly adopted from the Ukrainian one.
Ukraine has rescued the whole Europe from the Mongol and Tatar yoke.
Ukraine is the largest state among the states situated completely in Europe.

Now let me quote you a bit...

BUT, if we don't see even a glimpse of that great Ukraine in the Ukraine that we see today, it clearly means that we are not working up to our potential; and that if we do, we could once again be an evershining and inspiring country setting a bright path for rest of the world to follow.

Just consider this as a trivia thread about different countries :-).

Yes, bit of the off topic speech... Why can't we relax when posting/reading at the "Off Topic Discussion" forum...

P.S.
I'm from Serbia
Correct me if I am wrong, but it was the Serbian terrorist who killed Archduke Ferdinand in 1914, resulting in the World War I.

No bes... It is certainly not off topic. No problems if you don't remember great facts about UKRAINE. The main thing that matters is how much you love your country. No body knows all the facts about one's country.

From your post it is clear that you really love your country just as I do mine...

yes you are right but it wasn't Serbian terrorist. It was Serbian soldier who killed
an occupant. Archduke Ferdinand was not killed in his country. Hi was killed in Serbia.
It seems that you know a lot about my country. Do you now who was Nikola Tesla?
Pople, most of us live in very poor countries (Ukraine, Russia, Serbia, India....) In our countries we have much nice smart people but we have fools too.
If we continue with this it maybe never be ended.

Some Tesla's ideas were so innovative that only now they are being discussed as the serious and maybe possible ones... :)

I want to say Tesla was an genius but he could not find understanding in his country (Serbia) so hi must went to USA. Can you see how our countries are poor. Why we need to work here for 10x less prices, why our doctors, programmers.... need to go to other countries?
How much you can earn as programmer in your cuontry?
We have no any reason to be proud.
I'm sure if anyone of us get chance to leave his country and work as programmer or doctor or .... somewhere for $100.000/year he will go immediately.

I do not mean he did bad thing... but such actions are called terrorism not regarding to their goal - war for independence or whatever. One who killed Abe Lincoln also thought he struggled for freedom...
It seems that you know a lot about my country. Do you now who was Nikola Tesla?
Yes, I do. Great physician. Physician unit is called with his name, and I also enjoy the Tesla imaginary weapon in Wolfenstein :)
very poor countries (Ukraine, Russia, Serbia, India....)
Could you please provide me with the definition of "very poor country"? Thx

Dear alexlamp,

No country is poor. It is worng to measure the country's richness in terms of monetory things. I know India is one of the richest country (if not the richest). It has a very deep culture. We had given the world a lot. And if you are talking about monetory values, I would like to remind you that if you look into history books you will find that before the british rule, India was called ' the bird of gold' or 'sone ki chiriya'.

I am sure that other countries also have similar rich history. We may not have big monetory savings but we certainly are not poor countries.

What do you say fellas....

I didn't think poor on that whay. You posted this :
38% of doctors in USA are Indians.
12% scientists in USA are Indians.
36% of NASA scientists are Indians.
34% of Microsoft employees are Indians.
28% of IBM employees are Indians.
17% of INTEL scientists are Indians.
13% of XEROX employees are Indians.

I ask you why. Why your doctors must go to USA?
I know that India is very rich country and have i lot of smart people (nice programmers and matematics...), my country too, but our countries don't know to use that potential. What is average salary in India? Here in Serbia is about 200 EUR ($270).

hahahaha

Dear Alex,

I can call you that... right... You again quote me monetory things.... Ofcourse the aboce said statistics represents money... nothing else except that in most of the cases, it was the parents or grand parents who migrated to US. Now their kids (and since we do have got brains) hold these positions. Normally people don't go to US from India for the sole purpose of job. Yes there are certain examples of migration and there is a steady tickle of poeple migrating to US even today (money being the first reason, studies are the second). Ofcourse the problem you are referring to is know as 'brain drain' and is a common problem with the UDC (under developed countries) or LDC (Less Developed Countries) or in other words HHRRC (diplomatically it stands for High Human Resource Rich Country).

But then it is globalization. I dont have exact details of average salary in India but it is quite low. Main reason is our population ( we certainly are the 2nd highest in that).

Abhigyan

Yes you are right.
I just want to say that I can't be proud to be Serbian if I work all day for 200 EUR/month. Our nations have different mentality and we can't thinking on same way. You know my country had 2 wars last 15 years and it was really hard to live here. Mafia(government) in my country did take evrything that they can (same as in Russia). Sorry but i can't love country like that. Maybe i don't know enough informmation about India and it's nice how much you love your country but i can't.

I think you missed the fact stated earlier that only 1.5% of the American population is indian, so in reality it is only a very small %age moving to America to become doctors and whatnot.

Alex,

I am sorry to hear about the state of Ukraine. But man, it is us, people who make a difference. Secondly, every country as well as individual has it's bleak days. But do remember that morning only comes after a night (a dark one too). My country has been in 3 wars with Pak and 1 with China since we have got our Independence. But yes we are growing.

We had lived for some 400 years under bristish rule which was quite operrasive but we never felt discouraged and that is why we are here now. My advice to you is that look at the positve points of your country and try to remove negative ones. Make some difference in your society through your contribution and you will find that you too love your country as I do.

Regards,

Abhigyan
