View Full Version : Anyone recommend a good portal program?
Looking for something open-source/gpl to tinker with.
Need forums/faqs/classifieds/members etc. Basic portal stuff.

Mambo/Joomla seems to be the way to go with a lot of people. It does have components to meet almost every need, although it can be time consuming to remove what you don't need from the front page.
Creating a cross-browser template for Mambo can be a trying experience. Other than that, it is open source, very professional, and very exhaustive when it comes to features :)
As an aside, it does not integrate too well with phpBB, and I am not sure what will happen when Olympus is out. SMF is the simplest to integrate with; IPB is fine if you're willing to buy it. Then there are mamboforums, but they're not exactly packed with features, I'm afraid.
