It is hard to find anyone that knows anythin about jabber. What is the deal? Technology growing? Dead? No one interested?

All I know is that it is a new open-source platfrom for instant messenging that uses only the internet. It is XML based, and is compatible with all other messaging systems such as AOL, MSN etc.

jabber is also the protocol that google recently adopted for their "Google Talk" IM client.
I've set it up in a few places for companies complete with one who used it as their client support platform. Clients paid a monthly fee and got a jabber client in return, a tech was always on hand via the system to answer any questions the client had.
