View Full Version : Low bidders.
Don't you hate people that bid five dollars on things that should be 30 or 40? They may be able to make it with 5 dollars per project, but they're ruining it for others that can't. Just thought I'd put that out there :)

Well, I don't hate them. I just ignore such projects :D
Honestly, I have lost a couple of projects that I could do because of them, but I don't hate them, some do a work more professional that freelancers that bid $ 40.00, for instance.
no one of them will bid $5 for all his career. there's two ways: he will die soon from starving or hard work, or will bid $20-40 :)
Most bid 5 dollars to get started, I did this to get my first review because no one was familiar with me, then, I bid my regular price, that's all, it worked out pretty good.
The most ridiculous thing other than the 5 dollars that everyone complains is like bidding on a project which asks you to translate a site from english to portuguese, been me a portuguese fella, and a chinese translator bids lower than me, and get's accepted to do the work...
Well, how ridiculous is this? Would a chinese translate a site from english to portuguese better than a natural born portuguese collegue?
Low bid's affect us all, sometimes, like the case above, on a surprisingly way.

lol, isn't it funny to read that translation? it's a matter of $5, almost all that work is crap, and webmaster will go and post a project again, and he will accept reasonable bid.
I don't know how the translation went thru because I haven't decided to follow it, but he may be using Google Translator or something else.
Either way... If I remember well, his bid was 1 dollar lower than mine.
Buyers sometimes are more interested on lower bids than on a quality work.
I have redone quite a few projects from previous freelancers that bid low, and left bugs all over their installations, errors, broken links, security holes, misplaced images, etc... as you can see on one of my reviews, I fully redone a site that had 3 previews ScriptLance freelancers working on it, each one of them took around one week up to one month to complete the tasks, and I alone redone the works in one single day.
I am not saying that I am better that them, but I am surelly more into what I do that they will ever be, that's why I bid carefully, I make sure I can deliver the work done, without mistakes.

Actually, for getting few review we need to do this ... But I really get angry on them now ...
I have seen many accounts which has 2-3 review and had bad feed back ... Due to this they bid low without knowing the project and finally end with the bad feed back time westing etc..
After that
web master don't get the quality work
programmer don't get the money of the work ...
I would suggest the programmer please bid what it cost you not the get the project ...
So far I have got 10 out of 10 points on my reviews, so I can't really complain.
I assume it may be due to my position, work and availability toward the Buyer.
We all have to make sure that when we get into a bid, we have to be prepared to fullfill the Buyers demands, also be present and make him feel that you are actually taking care of his project as it was your own.

you reported that google search result project? and scriptlance was greatfull for that? i saw it was made private..
it was noting there that isn't complying with the users agreement. but as long Sl alows such bids, can't do anything.
more, a few months ago, if i remember well, when a project had minimal budget set, you could not bid lower than that. now it is alowed to bid lower than the minimum budget set.
really, to delimit this site from the other ones out there, there should by some really nasty restrictions:D

lool, check this out:
buyer:
"I don't think I can use anyone here. It looks like it takes 3 days for me to get them to get their $5. "...
and it was a project like php/mysql into a design. his minimum budget was 500 and than he replies with the above ones and instructing me to contact him offsite:confused:
project: here (http://www.scriptlance.com/projects/1213788547.shtml)
this was an usefull report to Sl:D
SL allows to bid under minimal budger for years already, you probably saw this useful limitation somewhere else, bereczandor.

so where is 3 days and $5? :D
he have a fake account or lie about 3 days.
Candidate for ban in near future i think :D
Actually, I've never done that... Bid five bucks for a project i mean.
I allways bid at least $55 for simple projects and have many customers by now.
It's my third or fourth month at SL now. I did a small project for $20 but this was my fault 'cause I didn't notice the project budget before sending a message in PMB.
I honestly think that good comunication and high quality work is the key. And if the client has some taste :).
I guess out of every five messages I send, I get two replyes. Some people like my portfolio and some don't. That's it. I never make a compromise with the price, except when I've worked with the same customer on more than two projects. Then I give them a discount. Like any marketing agency would.
But, all of this said, I still don't beleve that people who work for $5 do a good job. It just doesn't make any sense. None at all ! And it's true that whoever works for such a price brings down the quallity and the pricing for the rest of us.
But hey - that's life...

Hi to all. Typically my bid not less than 15-20$ for simple project (1-2 hours of work)
But in some cases I can bid 5$ (very rarely) For example, after I open website, which need to be fixed, I immediately seen that only one or 2 line in css need to be changed. In such case I can help for feedback or even for free. I don't think it honest to bid 20$ for 5 minute job.
I think worse when somebody made such bid for project which will took 2-5 hours without even looking on work description.
But may be I'm not right.
